Watkins Glen, N.Y. (29 June 2019) – Christina Nielsen had her best qualifying run to date with the No. 57 Caterpillar Acura NSX GT3 of Heinricher Racing with Meyer Shank Racing on Saturday. Nielsen set the second fastest time of 1:45.295-seconds and will start on the outside of the front row for Sunday’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen.
The No. 57 Acura NSX GT3 has shown pace all weekend at the 3.4-mile upstate New York circuit and was fastest on the time sheets for Practice 2 on Friday afternoon. The momentum continued into Saturday’s 15-minute qualifying run for Nielsen and teammates Katherine Legge and Bia Figueiredo.
“This is our best qualifying of the year and the best one in my life!” said Nielsen.” It has been great working with the Heinricher Racing team. We have had momentum with this car all year and to be able to carry that through to produce a great qualifying run is fantastic. I can’t thank Heinricher Racing, MSR and Caterpillar enough for having me here. This is an opportunity that gives me the perfect environment to learn and develop as a driver. Now our attention turns forward and I am excited to get out there and race.”
“What an incredible job by Christina today to put us P2,” said team principal Jackie Heinricher. “What an incredible team effort by Heinricher Racing and Meyer Shank Racing to take the starting front row. A big congratulations to our sister car for qualifying on pole. As always, we thank our sponsors for their solid support. They make our success possible.”
The green flag for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen is set to fly on Sunday at 9:45am ET with live timing at scoring.imsa.com as well as IMSA Radio coverage. There will be a delayed NBCSN broadcast starting at 7:00pm ET.
